The alpha subunit (CG alpha) is also a component of Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH), Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone, and Chorionic Gonadotropin. The unique beta subunit confers the protein’s specific biological action and is responsible for the interaction with its receptor.
