Background: GATB allows the formation of correctly charged Gln-tRNA (Gln) through the transamidation of misacylated Glu-tRNA (Gln) in the mitochondria. The reaction takes place in the presence of glutamine and ATP through an activated gamma-phospho-Glu- tRNA (Gln) .
