Background

Exosome complex exonuclease RRP44 or Dis3 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the DIS3 gene. The DIS3 gene encodes a catalytic subunit of the exosome complex, an essential RNA degradation machinery involved in multiple aspects of RNA metabolism, including RNA processing, quality control, and turnover. DIS3 functions as an exonuclease, playing a key role in degrading various RNA species, such as messenger RNA (mRNA), ribosomal RNA (rRNA), and transfer RNA (tRNA) . Its activity is crucial for maintaining cellular RNA homeostasis and gene expression regulation.
