- Background
- Munc-18 (mammalian homologue of Unc-18) is a protein that is thought to be involved in regulating exocytosis due, at least in part, to it ability to bind syntaxin (Ciufo et al., 2005) . Munc18-1 is a neuron-specific member of the Sec1/Munc18 protein family that binds to syntaxin1A and is thought to stabilize the complex (Liu et al., 2004) . The function of Unc-18 is thought to be regulated by PKC phosphorylation of Ser-515 in C. Elegans (Sassa et al., 1996) . Ser-513 is the mammalian homologue of Ser-515 in C. Elegans.

- Immunogen
- Synthetic phospho-peptide corresponding to amino acid residues surrounding Ser513 of rat Munc-18, conjugated to keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH) . Immunogen species is Rat.
- Clonality
- Polyclonal
- Tissue Specificity
- Placenta, lung, liver, kidney and pancreas, as well as in peripheral blood lymphocytes.
- Applications
- WB, ICC
- Field of Research
- Protein Trafficking, Signal Transduction, Vesicle Transport
- Purification
- Prepared from pooled rabbit serum by affinity purification via sequential chromatography on phospho and non-phosphopeptide affinity columns.
- Concentration
- 0.5-1mg/ml, actual concentration vary by lot. Use suggested dilution ratio to decide dilution procedure.
- Form
- Liquid
- Function
- Involved in intracellular vesicle trafficking and vesicle fusion with membranes. Contributes to the granule exocytosis machinery through interaction with soluble N- ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptor (SNARE) proteins that regulate membrane fusion. Regulates cytotoxic granule exocytosis in natural killer (NK) cells.

- Shipping Conditions
- Available
- Storage Conditions
- Storage at -20°C is recommended, as aliquots may be taken without freeze/thawing due to presence of 50% glycerol. Stable for at least 1 year at -20°C. After date of receipt, stable for at least 1 year at -20°C.
- Fragment
- IgG
- Applications Notes
- Specific for endogenous levels of the ~65 kDa Munc-18 protein phosphorylated at Ser513. Immunolabeling is blocked by preadsorption with the phosphopeptide used as antigen, but not by the corresponding non-phosphopeptide.
